We have a 2020 Expedition Platinum. A friend has the 2019 Navigator (Reserve I think).

On his truck, he has approach detection. Is there a way to enable that on ours in Forscan, or is there a module on the Lincoln that isn't on the Expedition?

I always thought of them as pretty much the same vehicles underneath the cosmetic differences.

I googled it - it's the feature that lights up the vehicle when you approach with the keyfob...

I was thinking (hoping?) it was for detecting the slope of the ground ahead of your front wheels so you know if you're going to scrape entering a driveway or when off-roading... that would be more useful IMO.

I'm unfamiliar with "Approach Detection" - what does it do?

When you approach the truck with the key in your pocket, the power running boards deploy. Puddle (and some other) lights come on etc.

To my mind, our Expedition knows I'm standing near it with the key, because when I touch the door handle it unlocks the truck. I can't imagine an extra sensor is needed, and it should just be a setting in Forscan that is enabled on the Navigators.

One other thing, when the battery begins to fail, this will be among the first "features" to stop working in order to save battery charge...at least that was how it worked on my wife's Aviator. But then again, that is just another extravagant bell (or whistle) Lincoln incorporates to justify charging a premium price and really not a significant absence on an Expedition.

I have scanned through the Forscan pages looking for this same option if it was config setting. I’m wondering if a Navigator Forscan sheet exists. I too would like to see if this is something to enable. I added lights to the power running boards and this would be the icing on the cake.

I'm not sure what you are asking, but I added vehicle distance detection if you are talking about that. On the dash where the lane assist icon is, the 2 lines change colors when you get close to the vehicle in front and a rear of a vehicle icon shows with the brake lights on. It was not activated and maybe not a feature in my year. So I activated it with ForScan.

Ive been able to enable my vehicles approach detection through forscan. Now all my windows fully open, all 4 doors open wide , the trunk door opens and my panoramic roof fully opens as well automatically if im become within 10 feet of the vehicle. Ive been unable to reserse it though. I hope im able too before the winter and snow comes.

I assume this an attempt at humour?

If you read up, it's explained.

Would be interested in this as well, but I'm betting you're not able to. FWIW the 2021+ F150's in XLT trim (302A) have this feature too. Maybe you could look into FORSCAN settings there and see if you can find anything similar? Different generation/electrical architecture though.

Has anyone successfully enabled this feature with forscan?

I just enabled this last night on my 24 limited using this spreadsheet.

There are 6 changes you can do in "easy" mode in the BCM and 2 require As Built changes.
-Search approach once you're in the BCM easy method and enable all 6 options.
Then in the As Built BCM, 726-45-01, xxxx xxxx x*--. Changed from 0 to 1.
Last change is 726-45-02, **xx xxxx xx--. This is how long the "light show" stays on. I used 19 (hex value for 25 seconds). No issues so far. I have an f150 also and I was disappointed that a newer Expedition didn't have one of my favorite features from the f150. I was also able to add Zone Lighting/360 lighting with changes in the APIM, BCM, and GWM. I don't have the changes in front of me, but I basically searched zone lighting or 360 lighting and enabled everything EXCEPT Zone Lighting Power Shutter.

*I did not want the running boards to deploy on approach so I didn't dig into that, but I assume it's possible.
