Audio input Interface

Hello everyone, I have a little dilemma. I want to get a 3.5 jack output from my factory stereo, Not a fan of custom stereos From my 02 Lincoln Navigator. Does anyone know how to do this? One of my main reason is because the Dvd System is streamed into the radio and the audio quality is horrible!! Its an Alpine Factory stereo with the 6Cd changer any help will be appreciated!!!

If you stereo has the aux button on it, you can get a PIE adapter that plugs into the back of the stereo and will supply you with aux in jack.

Do a google search for AUX in adapter for your model year truck.

I had one in my 1998 F 150 and it worked great!

Here's what I am about to try. The PIE Aux adapters basically trick the head unit into thinking there is a CD Changer attached, then they send the audio into the head unit on the CD changer audio wires.

I have a CD changer in the 98 Navigator, but I don't listen to CD's.

I am going to put a CD in the changer and let it play. You have to do this, because if the head unit doesn't think the CD changer is playing it won't keep it selected. I am pretty sure it determines if it is playing over the "Audio Corporate Protocol" connection to the CD changer.

I am going to cut the audio signal wires from the CD changer and wire in a jack to plug my own audio into. I won't cut any of the other wires only the 4 audio signal in and out wires.

I was going to try this today but I forgot to solder up my jack last night.

I just want to let everyone know....what I describe above works. I posted that message at 9:52 and became very inspired to try it out. It is now only about 10:25 and all the wiring is done in the console where the changer is so you don't have to take the radio out.

And...to the OP. Since you have the in-dash 6 disc, you are probably better off just buying the PIE adapter. http://www.amazon.com/PIE-FRDN-AUX-1998-up-Auxiliary-Converter/dp/B001KM3JMS Unless you have an external changer too!

Thanks guys! But after looking into my dash my Navigator did have a AUX input because of the DVD Which I had to adjust the frequency, I guess it was set up high...
