This si the most pain in the rear audio setup i have ever dealt with....

that said.. i need some expert advice

i have this radio in my truck:
All Ford - Expedition 2004+ CD6 MP3 SAT Audiophile radio 4L1T-18C815-AB NEW

and rear seat entertainment (DVD player)

is this a can-bus system or not?

i have one company telling em all i need to keep RSE functionality is this adapter: P.I.E. Rear-seat Factory DVD Adapter Retains factory rear seat DVD system in select 2004-up Ford and Lincoln vehicles with Phase II connectors (Model FRD03-DVD) at Crutchfield.com

and another telling me its not possible to put in an aftermarket deck and keep RSE working

just looking for some inside advice

That Crutchfield adapter will not give you rear seat audio control, it will only allow the rear seat DVD player to play audio through the truck's sound system (and that's only IF the head unit is turned on and controlling volume...). You need something like this adapter if you want to retain all those controls : Pac C2R FRD1 Ford Lincoln Mercury with Can Bus Radio Replacement Interface | eBay . Your best bet is to go by a local stereo shop and tell them what you want to do. They'll most likely have the proper adapter and either sell it to you or install it for you. Personally I'd just upgrade to a Pioneer Nav system and be done with it.
That factory Ford stuff is junk anyway.

That's exactly what I'm trying to do the pioneer avh-x5500bhs is the deck I'm looking at but I need to keep the rear seat DVD functionality I don't care about the rear seat controls... I have other plans for that space >:) (peak 1200watt inverter with remote sub panelMounted there)

So I just basically just need the DVD player to still work
