This is kinda odd. This happend before and it fixed itself some how.

When I put it in reverse it still backs up but its weak. I would give it some gas the RPMs would rise but it won't back up any faster.

When I put it in drive 1st gear is fine and it shifts to 2nd gear fine 3rd gear is fine 4th gear is weak and OD is fine.

When this happens, My OD light on my shifter flashes on and off and it will keep on flashing until the time I park it and shut the engine off.

It can't be anything big because when it stopped acting up I get a full reverse and 4th gear again. Well now it's acting up again and it is doing the same problem as I mentioned above.

I don't have a computer to plug into the plug under my dash but I would like to get one for it. I just don't know what kind and where to buy one at.

I plan on putting a 5 speed into it one of these day because number 1 it's more fun to drive one and it is because of this problem I'm dealing with here.

I'm restoring my Studebaker at the moment so I already have one iron in the fire as it is. I just want to get this transmission working like it should for the time being. Once the Studebaker is done. The 5 speed is going in.

Take it to your local auto parts store to borrow there code reader ( most do this for free ) the flashing OD light is a warning light telling you there is a faulty sensor in the transmission.

I had somethign similar to this in my 04 last year except in 1st gear... Just felt like it would never really catch despite greater RPMs... $4400 later I had a new/ rebuilt tranny from Ford.
Good Luck!!
