Back End Leak?

Kinda like a Clear Light Tan "Maybe Light Brown" Liquid on my garage floor.. its not much maybe like a small teaspoon, but its coming from the back of the truck and i don't recognize the smell.. what can leak from the back ?? anyone know what it might be?

sounds like your rear differential, and it has water in it. go to the how-to section and look up the post for rear differential fluid change. you will be good to go and its easy to do.

When I replaced mine I only used the rtv sealent, took the gasket back to the store actually. If you let it set for 10-15 minutes, put the diff cover back on and tighten it to spec you should be good to go. Does sound like rear diff fluid with water in it to me as well.

i know nothing about the rear diff how does water get in there?

if it has an area that can allow water in, like a break in the old gasket, water can get in, when it mixes with gear oil it turns to a milky light brown color, very thin and does not protect the gears, bearings and other parts.

Btw, use a full synthetic fluid with a friction modifier so you don't burn out the clutches in the rear end.
