Hello, desperate here. Trying not to go to dealer. Ran obdII, no codes shown ... backup aid still shows on as I put in reverse and each sensor clicks when key on and put in reverse. Must be the pam module ? Where is this bugger located? any advice or tips appreciated, thanks!

Its possible that the module could be the problem or it could be that the speaker is bad.
There are test procedures that can be done to determine the problem

Verify again if all sensors are clicking or buzzing when you put your finger over it. If one is bad, the system will not function. Also I think there's an off switch that may be worth checking.

You don't really say what the problem is. But I agree with Bedrick. If the sensors are clicking I would test the system speaker before replacing that PAM module. But the PAM module is usually in the left rear passenger's pillar. Pop the pillar trim piece off and you should see it there about mid level. ForScan can communicate with the module if it's powered, and report the trouble codes.

My 03 Expedition EB isn't ticking. I don't have a button on the dash anywhere to turn it off like my Explorer (I can hear the ticking on my Explorer). Should I just change the 2 sensors I see on the rear bumper?

Do you get a "Check Backup Aid" message in the message center when you put the Expy in Reverse ? Does your Expy have a trailer hitch ball attached? The biggest failure item in the system on the '03s was the center "radar" sensor in the rear bumper just above the trailer hitch. I have a suspicion that it didn't like trailer hitches. It will probably be easier to let the dealer look at it and give you a clear idea of what's bad. It can get very expensive to just throw parts at it.

If you only have TWO sensors on the back bumper then you need to look for the Third sensor behind the bumper.

Rather than changing sensors which is basically guessing at the problem or like just throwing parts at the problem with the hope that you get lucky.

Take the time to troubleshoot the problem.

Also agree with Hamfisted above

I had the same problem. "Check back up aid " The code was C1983 Rear radar sensor. To make a very long story short, radar sensor replaced and problem solved. The bumper cover has to be removed to get to the radar unit behind the receiver part of the hitch. If you crawl behind the hitch, you can see the plug but it is not accessible. I think the removal is on You Tube.

Thread resurrection... But where'd you source the part? I'm seeing $450 and up!

The repair cost me slightly more than $500. It was done by a dealer some time ago. The new part number was 5L7Z 15K859. There are several parts suppliers on line that have the part. The cheapest one was about $ 360. Amazon has several links to Ford parts.
