Hello i have a 2003 Expy and ive been noticing when im driving my expy will sort of "stall" or cut out when i accelerate from a stop every now and then and especially when i put the pedal down to get on to the freeway. Ive been told that it could have been the fuel filter and so i changed that and its still happening. I have also been told that its the fuel pump going bad and i just wanted to ask here and get a answer from someone that has been down this path before any help will be greatly appreciated.

Still fuel pump or something worse?

So today i was pulling out of my parking spot and after i backed out and put it in drive my expy just stalled and died. it didn't crank the first time i turned the key but it did the second time is this for certain that is the fuel pump or could it be more than just the fuel pump? Funds are tight for me right now and i wont be able to get it to a dealer any time soon. Can someone help??

Make sure you 100% positive its not battery related, or possibly and very wishfully thinking a very clogged fuel filter but it most def sounds like a fuel pump. The only reason i went to the ford house is because i still have an extended warrany on mine, and it was the cheapest believe it or not

Could also be the fuel pump module. Drop the spare, and see if the module is corroded.

Check this thread, seems to be a common problem on the '03 expy's.

Hope this helps I had posted a link in this thread not long ago and it was dead on. Not any cheaper than a fuel pump but it would suck to replace the pump like others had and then still have to do this.

Well i took it in today for a second opionion and after they drove it they said the mass air flow sensor was to blame and after asking them every question i had they guarenteed that it was indeed the airflow sensor. So now im out 207 bucks for the part and installed it the hesitation or stalling was no more even when i would accelerate hard so im hoping this cured it but only time will tell and thank you to everyone for giving me some great info and help thank you
