Hey guys, I'm new to the forum. I'm getting a 99 Expedition from my parents in the next month or two. Its a 4.6 4X4 with 150k on it. The tires are in need of replacement soon, so i want to get a new set later this summer before i go of to college. Right now I'm really interested in the BFG KM2s. I havent heard anything bad about the tires other than they are kinda spendy, but that is ok. The size will be 265/75/16. Just wondering if anyone on here has these tires on their truck or had any experience with them at all. I am also curious to see what they look like on an expy, so if you have them could you post some pics?

Thanks

I wheel with a few guys that run them, they love em, one suggestion get a 2/3 level kit and go with the 305s, you will be happy you did, or add the 3 inch body lift and the level kit and run 315s,

I know the 305s would look better and 35s would be even cooler, but with the 4.6, I don't want to kill my power or have to regear. I have looked at a level kit. How much would it cost and what would all need to be adjusted (such as linkages and stuff like) if any to put the level kit on it. What would the 305s with a level kit do to the power and mileage?
Thanks

well lets face it, we dont buy expy's for gas mileage! you shouldnt lose too much power or mileage with the bigger tires. with my 35's and 4" rancho lift, i get about 11-12 on the highway, and thats without recalibrating my speedo.

Good point about the gas mileage. Thats not much of a concern for me as much as losing power. Before the tires and any suspension, I will be modding the intake and exhaust and an edge programmer. Will these mods be enough for 35s without regearing?

my old 97 f150 rocked 38s with only the 4.6... and I didn't get gears for a year and a half and it was fine... wont win a street race but held its own wheeling... so dont bash the 4.6 its a good motor... but i like my 5.4:p lol

As for KM2s they are a great tire but if you go lifted I love Procomps they ride awesome and are great in the mud... plus they have the buy 3 get one free lot... just my .02 thou

And gas mileage? whats that? I average 8.4 got .3 better after fuel filter change the other day LOL

If i put a lift on, I'm more interested in just a leveling kit for now. I wont be doing a lot of off roading, just every now and then, so lift isn't a huge deal. What is all needed to do a level kit right?

well easiest thing to do is a torsion twist... that is cranking up your torsion bars... after that would be a coil spacer in the rear and new keys up front... there are few people on here that started with leveling kits and now body lifts they should be chimming in soon for advise...

you shouldnt have to regear with 35's. its suggusted but not necessary. if you go bigger than 35's, i would highly recommend new gearing. i am running stock gears with my 5.4 and 35's. dont really have much power loss. like walnuts said, not gonna win a street race....but thats not why i build it.

but if you run 37s with the 5.4 it NEEDS GEARS bad...lol almost wont get out of its own way and quarter mile time is measured with a calculator but can run great in the mud

my truck has 20's with 275-60's (32.9) and it has a horrible loss from the stock 17's....its slower, brakes suck and the steering is heavier...

but it shines like a diamond in a goats a$$, and chics dig it...lol
