Blinker issues intermittent

Hi I have a 2003 Expedition and recently when I turn on my left blinker it will sometimes flash quickly like a bulb is out. When it does that I had my son look and it is the rear that is not blinking, the front and the mirror lights are fine. Other times it will blink just fine and the back is working. Any ideas of how to remedy this problem.

Start with the simple, new bulb, and clean connections to bulb. Be sure to use some dielectric grease or equivalent in socket area. If you had or have a cracked brake light lens, moisture gets in there. If the lens is cracked, replace it.
