My 2003 XLT 5.4 had to sit awhile while I took my sweet time fixing a wheel hub assembly issue. Maybe sat 2 months. Now about a week after driving and a tank fill I had a check engine light. This morning it started flashing but stopped. I have read this is a misfire and though I might have felt that in the ride a couple days ago. Two things:

- Is it common for a truck that sat long to misfire upon going again without tune up?
- Does the flashing make it more serious?

I'd pull the code and see which cylinder is missing. Depending on where it was sitting some moisture could have gotten into the plug hole.

i had a misfire last year in my 98 and the CEL was flashing. i agree it could be moisture in a plug or maybe you just got bad fuel at the fill up
