I was kidding. There was someone on the other forum that said you can't offroad with a body lift cause it's a bad idea. Just ask lane. Me and him were arguing to this guy saying it's not a bad idea and you can do it.

torches to heat up the bolts and possibly weld if you have tons of rust... when dgray69 did his bodylift he had to deal with tons of rust issues.... usually you won't need the welder but at least a propane torch to heat the bolts can help

there are 3 grounding points on my expedition, I used the extentions that came with the kit and had ground issues, so took ginder to them and relocate the brackets, welding is much better contact than the cheezy self tapping screws the kit came with, also had to reweld 2 of the thread donuts that were messed up, really I know what I was doing.

Good points to know, since I'm going to do the body lift this summer. Hope the neighbors don't mind the glow of the MIG...

really a body lift is not that hard.... if you get a performance accessories BL the directions tell you every little step... not really that difficult... words of advice.... only loosen one side then remove the other side.... if you remove all bolts you are gonna have a hell of a time lining the body back up

the SAS idea, would it really be that pricey to throw a dana 44 under it?? you can get the axels all day for 400-600 and from watching it done on the power block doesn't seem all that difficult

am i way off here???

i wouldnt do a d44. if you doing a sas might as well get a ford d60. and besides the 9.75 is a d60 just another design that ford wanted. what ever. but you can do leafs and a d60 for under $1000 if you find a good axle that doesnt need new axles, diff, bearings. but then you still need to do the steering and cut away a lot of the center section for the ifs. its a lot of work. so labor is whats so pricey.

i just swapped a Dana 60 king pin version into my F250 and that is over kill for that truck even with sled pulling so i just don't see the need for the 60 plus the 60 is more money and would have to be narrowed im thinking to put under an expy where the 44 would be ready to go

but either way if your not doing the work yourself and don't have another rig to drive i could see it getting pricey maybe tooooo pricey

exactly, its the labor that is gonna kill me. the spring perches all need to be cut off and moved. there is a lot of fab work that needs to be done. plus do a disk brake conversion. and this is my daily driver so i couldnt take months to finish it. oh, and i have no idea how to weld! hahah

and you are right, until i make this my toy, it would not be worth it to SAS it. so this one i will do the body lift, throw some 37's under it and call it good. i will eventually buy another expy and build the hell out of it an make it ready for the UA trip that Petersen's puts on each year...
