Box Behind the Battery

On my 2005, I was removing the battery and it got caught on a black plastic Box that sits behind the battery on the outside edge near the fender. When I yanked up, there was a hissing noise like some sort of pressure release. Two questions: what is that box for and does it have something to do with the hissing noise? It appears that my air flow controls inside are now stuck on defrost although I don't know if it has anything to do with the hiss. I was searching for a mythical second fuse box trying to track down the reason why my cruise control stopped working.

That is the vacuum reservoir tank
Also there is only one fuse block in the 05 expedition

Thank you. I must have disconnected the vacuum line when I pulled up on the battery. The hiss lasted for about 3-4 seconds then stopped.

disregard the speed control self test It appears that is not a test on the 05 expedition.

Check fuse #5 and #2 Use a meter to check fuses either by checking for continuity (ohms) or for voltage into and out of the fuse. Also could be a problem with the deactivator switch or the brake pedal position switch Just because you may have brake lights the Brake pedal position switch is a two circuit switch. Again checking these switches for voltage in and out is the best way to check

The 05 speed control is more integrated with the "drive-by-wire" system so tests from older year models don't apply.

On my '05, the ON switch had bad contacts so it wouldn't turn on. I found this using a scan tool looking at what the PCM was seeing on the input commands when I pressed the buttons on the steering wheel. Another point may be the brake switch.

Thank you. I will start tracing it back. The resume button is completely missing, so maybe the on/off is broken too.
