My wife likes to wear out brake pads like there's no tomorrow so what brands of brakes pads do you guys recommend that are long lasting, QUIET, and low dust for our 07 expy?

I read the reviews on the ebc green stuff and I didn't like how most of the reviews say that they wear out quickly.

Should probably get some good quality auto part store lifetime warranty pads.

I had some Autozone Duralast Gold Cmax pads. Worked ok. Wore out the rears with a sticky caliper and got replacements free.

I've tried so many different brand pads. For example, I have an old classic Jaguar and all the EBC brand pads, yellow, green, and red. All squealed like box cars. The Raybestos pads don't squeal and are low dust. On all my Fords...I've tried other brands but always had to go back to Motorcraft as they are the best in my opinion. And my rule of thumb is always this...When it's time for pads..I throw on new rotors, and they're especially easy on the Expedition as I don't have to fuss with removing caliper brackets.

Very misleading statement. They may be that way on your expedition but I would love to see you replace the rotors on a 1st gen expeditions without removing the caliper bracket. Maybe for the rears you don't but you will be there a long time if you try that on the fronts.

Did you forget that this is a 3rd Gen Expedition forum?? So I stand by my statement.

AS I stated Very misleading statement. The OP who you replied to has a 07 Expy.

The procedure for replacing the Brake Disc is as follows

SECTION 206-03: Front Disc Brake 2007 Expedition/Navigator Workshop Manual
REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION Procedure revision date: 08/10/2006

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Brake Disc
Removal and Installation

Remove the brake caliper anchor plate. For additional information, refer to Brake Caliper Anchor Plate in this section.
Remove the brake disc.
To install, reverse the removal procedure.

SECTION 206-03: Front Disc Brake 2007 Expedition/Navigator Workshop Manual
REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION Procedure revision date: 08/10/2006

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Brake Caliper Anchor Plate

Material Item Specification
High Performance DOT 3 Motor Vehicle Brake Fluid
PM-1-C (US); CPM-1-C (Canada) WSS-M6C62-A
Silicone Brake Caliper Grease and Dielectric Compound
XG-3-A ESE-M1C171-A

Removal

WARNING: Use of any other than approved DOT 3 motor vehicle brake fluid will cause permanent damage to brake components and will render the brakes inoperative. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.

WARNING: Carefully read cautionary information on product label. For EMERGENCY MEDICAL INFORMATION seek medical advice. In the USA or Canada on Ford/Motorcraft products call: 1-800-959-3673. For additional information, consult the product Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) if available. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.

CAUTION: Brake fluid is harmful to painted or plastic surfaces. Do not spill brake fluid onto painted or plastic surfaces. If spilled, wipe up immediately.

If necessary, using a suitable suction device, remove the brake fluid from the master cylinder reservoir until it is half filled.
With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to Section 100-02 .
CAUTION: If the anchor housing spring is to be removed, do not force the spring off the brake caliper or damage to the spring can occur.

CAUTION: Do not use any tools to remove the spring, use hand force only. Do not use excessive force or damage to the spring can occur.

NOTE: The LH side anchor housing spring must be installed with the 2-tabbed end in the upper brake caliper cavity.

For the LH brake caliper, release the lower portion of the anchor housing spring.
Apply force to the center of the spring and pull outward at the bottom of the spring to remove it from the lower brake caliper cavity.

Rotate the spring upward and remove it from the brake caliper.

NOTE: The RH side anchor housing spring must be installed with the 2-tabbed end in the lower brake caliper cavity.

For the RH brake caliper, release the upper portion of the anchor housing spring.
Apply force to the center of the spring and pull outward at the top of the spring to remove it from the upper brake caliper cavity.
Rotate the spring downward and remove it from the brake caliper.

Rotate the outer brake pad upper and lower retaining springs to disengage them from the brake caliper anchor plate.

CAUTION: Do not allow the caliper to hang from the brake hose or damage to the hose can occur.

Remove the 2 guide pin bushing caps, remove and discard the 2 brake caliper guide pin bolts and position the caliper aside.
Support the caliper using mechanic's wire.
Remove and discard the 2 brake caliper guide pin bushings.
Remove the 2 brake caliper anchor plate bolts and the anchor plate.

Again you may be correct for your 14 expedition But the 07 Expy requires one to remove the caliper in order to remove the disc.

Maybe you forgot that Ford in all their wisdom does make changes from one year to the other. And that what applies to one model year in a Generation may be totally different for another model year in the same generation.

Also this is a ford expedition Forum and was posted in the 3rd gen section

The following is the procedure for the 2010 model year which is also a 3rd gen

SECTION 206-03: Front Disc Brake 2010 Expedition, Navigator Workshop Manual
REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION Procedure revision date: 07/02/2009

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Brake Disc

Material Item Specification
Metal Brake Parts Cleaner
PM-4-A or PM-4-B (US); CPM-4 (Canada) —

Removal

Remove the wheel and tire. For additional information, refer to Section 204-04 .
NOTICE: Do not allow the caliper and anchor plate assembly to hang from the brake hose or damage to the hose can occur.

Remove the 2 brake caliper anchor plate bolts and position the caliper and anchor plate assembly aside.
Support the caliper and anchor plate assembly using mechanic's wire.
Remove the front brake disc from the wheel hub.

Got it...But I read your 1st reply to me to be a typical smart assed reply that I see all too often on these forums. And no matter how knowledgeable someone in the community is, I just don't take them seriously when I read condescending remarks meant to offend someone only looking to join the group. And that's why I didn't take the time to research if I erred in my response to 1mpg..... You're obviously experienced with our Expy's and I'm sure you share some good advice. So go easy on us newer people who are only looking to be a part of this good forum.

Had you put that on your 2014 you didn't have to remove the caliper to replace the disc I wouldn't have made any comment But your response to the OP showed that you were uninformed as to the brake systems on different year expedition. And this is something I notice on many responses from many members. Just because it is an expedition doesn't mean they are all the same.
Also there was those on here that have asked if the 2014 and 2015 should be classed as 4th generation. My comment wasn't meant to offend but rather to point out the differences. However your reply to me asking if I forgot could be taken as a smart ass reply. That was why I posted the procedures for the 07 and 10 model years.
