Breaking her in.

I have been breaking in the new motor trying to get miles on it before vacation as we are leaving for Avon, NC in a month. Want to get the miles on it so it can get final tune and not worry about loading it up towing the boat down.

I have been easing into the throttle and it feels like she is pulling pretty good. Definately pulls hard at full boost and I love the sound of the blower. But there is some part throttle issues that need to be worked out.

I pulled the fuse for the 4wd to avoid it trying to go in 4wd as I get in it. Well today when I was in a semi-deserted area at a traffic light the little devil on my shoulder got the best of me. With only 200 miles on the motor I decided to punch it and see what she would do. She lit the tires up and scooted a lil to the side. I stayed in it figuring it would stop soon but she kept on spinning as she accelerated for I dont know how many feet.

Then I had this silly grin on my face..lol. Never expected the expy to do that. Now I am curious.... I bet it would spin the tires stock with the 4wd disabled if you punch it. Anyone try?? lol .... Always thought the weight keep it from spinning but It may have been going into 4wd.

i wouldnt try and light up all 4 tires at once. that would be a little crazy and might cause your t-case to break. but that would be sick to see. i so wanna do this now! wish i knew someone around here that could help me out.

panda it is a sight to see. had a friend that had a lifted k5 on 35's. he had to run av gas in his engine. he would light up all 4 when he got on it. it was an awesome sight. and yes i know no pics no happen.

My intention was not to actually spin the tires if you can believe that. I wanted to see how quickly she would respond and accelerate from a dead stop. I expected it to get up and go with possibly some tire spin. I did not expect the degree of tire spin I actually got... I mean she lit them up! This was mainly based on my previous experience with the A4wd. Never realized how much the A4wd was actually working and believed most of the traction was due to the shear weight over the drive wheels. The expy actually has pretty good weight balance front to rear.

Now that I know what she will do it will not happen again. Will learn to ease her out. I would not attemp to spin all 4 tires as I am certain it would break something in the transfer case or front half shafts. I would love to feel it launch in 4wd though but have the same concerns with breakage. Thats why I pulled the fuse.

I was at a stop sign to make a left turn this morning. I started rolling and was halfway into the intersection when I saw a car speeding towards me from the street on my right (no stop on that street). So I punched the gas to clear the intersection and heard my tires screeching (2wd, stock ContiTrac tires). I was like W0000t!!

Not gonna try to repeat that though. I used to do that on my Civic all the time (the electric motor gives it unbelievable torque) and worn out the LRR tires prematurely. $$$$$ to replace them.

looks like someone needs some slicks. or at least just some street slicks. haha you will hook up amazingly. post a video of it once the break in tune is done. i so badly wanna do this now.

as for launching in a4wd dont recomend. as for puting selector switch to 4wd then doing it hell ya i would watch diesel drag trucks they have to launch in 4wd to keep the wheel spin down or there times suck in 4wd they fo bad a$$.as for stock spinning the tire i have my fuse pulled as well and it will only screech the tires if you are accelerating from a stop into a ture ie turning onto the main road from your neighborhood etc. the only time i got the tires to break loose was actually when they where wet going through a turn. these things really are gutless wonders stock

you think? but mine sucks when shes warmed up. when shes cold dam i can beat anything out there. but once warm. shes slower than a snail riding a turtle.
