Hey all,
I know this has been asked many times before but i am looking all over the internet and can not get a positive answer regaurding cam noise, was hoping someone can help. i have 2005 EB Expy 5.4.3v. i owned it since new and always had some noise that the stealership "could not verify" until the warranty was up, anyway it is definatley the cam phasers. my question, is it truly the cam pahser or the camshaft timing oil control solenoid. i read posts where some guys say they replaced the solenoid and it fixed it and some where they say just do the whole thing. any input would be awsome. thanks
Tom

If it's a problem with the phasers then the noise should dissipate after the RPM's go up. There's definitely a mechanical break in the phaser that makes the noise and changing the solenoids won't fix that.

Thanks for the reply, i had the dealer look at it, (one i trust and has been fair with me in the past) they said it was the chain tenisoners and not the phasers. still it is a labor intensive job. they said @1500 if they do it. if i do it it would lead to a whole new set of curse words!!! i think i might give it a try, what's the worst that could happen? i screw it up and pay them anyway! LOL
