Hi,

Just wanted to know if I can install a Fordpass Connect Modem in my 2019 Expedition XLT. My vehicle didn't come with it and I am getting conflicting information about whether or not it is a plug-in module that can simply be added to the truck or whether the truck was truly not made to use it.

If it CAN be added, does anyone know the part number and installation procedure? My truck does have Sync 3 installed.

Thanks!

Are you sure you don't have the modem, or it was never activated? I only ask because my 2021 Explorer did not come with maps, but after finding the feature was disabled, I was able to enable the feature and install a condensed set of maps.
Have you looked in your settings?
To determine if your vehicle has FordPass Connect:
  • Check your vehicle's window sticker for FordPass Connect/SYNC Connect.
  • Check your in-vehicle SYNC screen:
    1. Tap Settings.
    2. Select Vehicle.
      • If your modem is activated, the FordPass Connect tile will appear under the Settings menu.
      • If your modem is not activated, it will appear as Onboard Modem Serial Number (ESN).
I found useful info here:

I'd give you mine off my 2020 if I could figure out how to take it out.

It should be behind the driver side center console cover. Just beside the accelerator behind the console cover.

Presumably Ford has some sort of blanket arrangement with (AT&T I think) to provide cellular service to EVERY modem-equipped vehicle...?
