Put car trailer on truck with rear air suspension and did not handle well. Vehicle on trailer was a S10 for a project for older truck. Any suggestions, maybe have to use load leveling hitch which i did not need with my e250.

I hear ya. Towing with a 2006 F250 vs the Expedition that replaced it is night and day. No air suspension on my Expedition, though I suspect that my rear coils may be worn and in need of replacement.

I have adjustable Rancho shocks and stiffen the dampening when towing. The truck still likes to remind me I've got something behind me. No sway issues, but the rear definitely feels soft and floaty.

18 on board. 6300 lbs of load, trailer is 1800 empty.

You may have loaded the cargo (S10 in this case) incorrectly...either it's too far forward or too far aft on the trailer. Did you try to readjust so that the S10 is putting just a slight load/additional weight on the hitch? The wheels of the trailer should be supporting ~90% of the cargo weight...too little or too much will cause the trailer to not 'handle well'.

Where did you get these?
a friend that works for a company that refurbishes rail road lines, these were put in for commuter trains and failed quickly so the company pulled them and replaced with wood ties, the problem was the spikes split the plastic, instead of drilling first .
so my friend had two freight cars full, i got 20 or so and some other guys got 30, plus we re did the parking areas around the clubhouse with some.
i quartered them to be the size of landscape timbers and replaced all my rotted wood ones, these will be there long after i am gone

Not to dig, but you did something wrong. The Expeditions tow great. I tow a 24' enclosed trailer. The only time I have trouble is if I don't put enough air in my tires or if I load the car wrong. Too far forward or worse, too far back.
