Cleaning your throttle body

Hey guys i got a 99 with the 5.4l in it and my check engine like came on. I got it checked and it was the 401 code i was hoping someone could give me some insight on cleaning the TB. like do you take off the elbow? or just the TB? i have never cleaned it be for so i was just getting some insight b4 i dive in too it. Thanks

Someone will say that you should not clean the TB. Infact there is a sticker on the TB saying not to clean it. I do anyway; I just pull the elbow and spray in some B-12 chemtool from time to time since I have an oil/gause filter.
