Clicking near alternator fuse

My expedition is making a clicking sound near the alternator fuse and my truck won't start

Could you provide us with a little bit more information as maybe the year model? Trim package? Anything other than that?

As we talk I have the chiltons Repair manual in my lap trying to figure out what’s wrong with my 98 expedition so I will take a picture of the page and you can decipher it from there because I’m no expert at this

Unfortunately they don’t have a alternator troubleshooting section and this book

I would recommend that everybody get one of these but preferably the Haynes one

It could be as simple as a nearly dead battery . Have you measured the voltage when off and when attempting to start? A clicking when you turn the key is a certain indication of a dead battery or bad battery cable. If it clicks on its own with ignition on, it is probably relay chatter due to low voltage,

Voltage drop test to test the wiring. could be a bad ground.
