I have contacted an attorney but before having him proceed did attempt to call the case manager with Ford again to discuss if they're willing to handle this another way first. Left a voicemail so we'll see if he calls back. If still told there is nothing they can do I will have the attorney proceed. Monday will now be 10 weeks and as of yesterday we had to swap vehicles again into our 4th loaner and were told they still had no update for us on when they'll have the equipment they need or when my wife's vehicle might be fixed. Incredible how poorly this is being handled and this ******* case manager is only making things worse with how he has communicated with me thus far. Will update once something more happens. Thanks for the input from several of you.

Have you opened a case with the BBB "Auto Line"? I believe its a prerequisite to the buyback if I recall whats covered in the manual - could be state specific.

See paragraph F of Oklahoma title 15, section 901.
https://www.ok.gov/omvc/pdf/Lemon Law.pdf

Your situation sounds like a textbook buyback, so can understand your displeasure. Best of luck.

Your attorney should be dealing with Ford - not you.

You’ve already stated this matter is being handled poorly and that the case manager is a DA. What other way do you want the matter handled?

I wish you nothing but luck - your case clearly fits the definition of a lemon in your state, and I hope you proceed as such.

Good luck.

Did the Ford case manager return your call? Have you decided how to proceed?

I did a lemon law on the wife’s Jeep about 5 years ago. Was in and out of the shop for 3 months. All I did was document everything in writing, then went in one day and threw my keys at the owner. Two weeks later, new ride.

Ford case manager called me Thursday to tell me they had reviewed my case again and determined it was eligible for a buy back. Supposedly someone else will be calling me in 7-10 business days to discuss everything. Then, yesterday (Friday) the dealership that has had our Expedition for 12 weeks calls me and says it is ready to pick up. I confirmed with the case manager that I should go get it and they said to proceed like normal and it is still going to be a buy back. We’ll see what happens next...

What happened next???

Your last post was in October. I felt I would have the ending to your story. Then I get to the end and it’s like the last page of a book is missing.

Raptors, you'll get used to people leave you hanging around here. Can't tell you how many times an op starts a thread, asks a million questions, then we bounce off each other, usually 3-5 of us giving our time/experience, just to have them disappear. ****, as Stamp would say. Lot of missing last pages around here.

Dealer called this week saying they got all of the parts and equipment to service this issue. Originally spoke on October 8th. Taking it in on the 15th. Dealer said it could take up to 10 days.

Did our friend change his log on name? I don't know about you guys, but this is ridiculous. Dragging on for 4 months over an A/C problem. Are all the new vehicles using this freon? Is R134 not environmental compatible anymore? I feel like I've been living in a cave, not driving or working on the newest/trickest stuff. I know he got a free dealer loaner, but jeez.

I’m a bit worried about this too. My Expy has issues cooling with AC On a few hot days before the fall.

Just an update on ours. All lines and components were replaced and everything seems to be functioning normally. Took 8 days. Dealership provided a loaner and a free car wash.

Sorry, I haven’t updated until now. So I was finally able to get Ford to do a buy back on my wife’s 2018 Expedition due to this issue. They had the vehicle from August until December. I got a call from the dealership they finally got the refrigerant evacuated and parts replaced the day after Ford agreed to this so I didn’t let them off the hook and continued the buy back. We were refunded the full purchase price of the vehicle. Although the situation was frustrating and not ideal, we were happy with how Ford came through ultimately for us. We ended up buying a 2019 Expedition Limited and are happy with it. We used Joe Cooper Ford in Edmond to handle everything and it went smoothly.

Bring on the "replacement" refrigerants. THIS IS TOTAL BULL!!
The only good thing about R-134a was it was cheaper than R-12 (at the time).
Now they come out with a new refrigerant and it is 5X MORE!
AND doesn't work as well. NO THANK YOU!!!
Luckily by the time I might consider a car new enough to have come factory with this crap, they will have come up with some tricks.
I don't really like the HC mix "drop ins" but have used them and can get 8-10 degree colder vent temp on challenged systems and it is as cheap as 134a.

Once again..change and govt is bad!

Heh - you think this is bad. While browsing around I found that Mercedes was switching to R-744 (which is pure CO2) as a refrigerant! Crazy high pressure 1450psi system - can't believe they're getting this nuts with A/C...
https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a...-debut-air-conditioning-with-co2-refrigerant/

Interesting that a primary reason that Mercedes decided not to use R1234-yf is due to its flammability. Makes you wonder if our Expeditions are more prone to fires after a collision that damages the A/C system.

Incase anyone was curious what an aluminum shell 2018+ looks like after a fire:

I'm going to assume that the firewall (ironic name, huh?) is made from something other than aluminum.

The wheels look like they are from a Limited model. Makes you wonder what started the fire since the front and rear bumper beams appear to be intact. Frame on the passenger's side looks fine too, so maybe it was T-boned on the drivers side since we can't see that view. Kinda creepy to see the 3 rows of seat frames all burned out.
