Corrosion on Liftgate

The rear lift gate on my 08 Eddie is having major corrosion problems. I take car of the paint quite well and this is the only vehicle I've had that has had this problem. Is the rear lift gate aluminium? Also anybody know roughly how much it will be to get the rear lift gate repainted?
