OK. So about a week ago I noticed that the truck was idling a little lower than it usually does and it seemed that my serp. belt was spinning a little slower.

Now I'm experiencing a sound whenever I touch the gas. It's kind of like a jittering sound almost like a supercharger coming from the left side. Just yesterday and today I've had some issues starting her up. It cranks about 4 or 5 times and then it finally starts.

What do you guys think? I'm taking her into the shop tomorrow but wanted to know beforehand if any one had a definite answer just so they don't empty my wallet.

Post a video of it!

I just jumped it so I guess my battery is going bad. But still no explanation for the humming sound

Does the sound change when you turn the steering wheel? Could be the PS pump.

How about when you are running the AC or turning your fan on or off? Could be the fan under your dash.

has it given you the problem at night or just daytime. maybe alternator going bad and not recharging. it may have been just running off the battery and the last time you tried to start it, there wasn't enough juice. the jump could have recharged it a little. is alt by the sound.

No CEL. Sound does not change when turning wheels.

It happens day and night, and gradually gets louder the more I step on the gas.

Like I said previously, it's going to be looked at in the morning, I'd just like to know what it is beforehand so that they don't try to steal all my cash.

I'm at Ford right now and they are saying its either one of two pulleys in the motor. Around 100-150 to replace with labor. Does this sound about right?

Guessing idler or tensioner pulley bearings going bad then? They would replace idler or tensioner pulley in that case. Simple fix. Sounds fair to me with their labor. Should not take long at all to replace.

Tensioner pulley indeed. The part will be there around 3 this afternoon and they said it'd take about 45 minutes to replace.

Sounds good enough for me! Thanks for all the help guys.

sounds about right, the tensioner 1L3Z-6B209-AA lists at $41.99 customer pay in the ford system and about 50 bucks in labor isnt bad.
