So my truck has already been in three times for this and still not fixed and wondering has anyone else heard this creak or rattle? Started out as a fine rattle. First time i went to the closest dealer from my home and they said something underneath was loose but they couldnt do anything without charging me since i didnt buy there. Took it to my dealer afterwards but they couldnt hear it. It came baback as a creak, took it in again they heard it this time, looked around and found the 2nd row mechanism in the seat thats loose. Gone after that and havent heard it. Havent driven the car all wknd and now the creaks back. I cant put a finger on where or what it is now. It sounds like its coming from the door or panel by the door. I want to take it back in, but feel they not gonna find it.

Warranty work is warranty work and is available at all dealerships. It is a requirement to being a licensed Ford dealer.

Totally correct, that dealer didn’t want to fool with it.

I'd suggest isolating the source before even going to a dealer. Have someone drive while you crawl around the back attempting to find it or the nearest area at least. Then you have a specific place you can ask them to look at. I wouldn't trust the dealer to find a noise source unless it was extremely obvious. Unless it's an exceptional dealership, they don't have the time nor do they care that much. Too much of a wild goose chase.

Dealers hate troubleshooting noises and rattles because if they cannot locate, isolate, and fix it, the time wasted isn’t reimbursable by Ford corporate.

Moss is right DL....would be prudent for you to know the answer before you get to the dealer.....of course 3 times is the magic number for not effecting a repair in some states, invoking Lemon-law discussions.....not suggesting a mere rattle as grounds BUT how they handle it, is.

As someone that has spent days trying to determine the sources of some pretty intermittent and tough to diagnose noises on vehicles, I can tell you first hand that if you show up with an idea where the noise is coming from, what roads in the vicinity of the dealership and what driving behavior will cause the noise to exhibit itself on a consistent basis and have the ability to be patient with the tech performing the repair, you'll end up with a favorable resolution. Conversely, if you tell your service advisor nothing more descriptive than that your car is making noise somewhere inside, then get in your loaner and leave, it's non-repair is on you and you really have no reason to get upset when the technician working on your vehicle was unable to duplicate the noise complaint and perform a repair to correct it. Another thing that will help you out is removing everything from the vehicle that wasn't there the day it came off the showroom floor. I can't tell you how often I get cars that come in with a trunk full of crap, rosaries hanging from the rear view mirror, cupholders filled with pens, keys, you name it and the customer can't figure out why there's a noise when they're listening to deadmau5 or flying over speed bumps. When you see those cars, it's hard to not get frustrated because you know it's most likely a time charity and nobody will win.

Ill see if i could isolate it more. The first time it went in, my wife took it and she said neither her or the tech could find the rattle. Since the dealer is 20 miles away in a town were unfamiliar with, it may have been difficult to find a road tgat would induce it. To me, sitting in the passenger seat i would just hear it no matter the road. Needless to say, nothing really was fixed. For the creak, or second visit, i took it in with my wife and we both heard the noise at that point. Took the tech out and pointed out everytime it made the noise. He thought he found the noise, originating under the car and i told him that wasnt the case and that "i" felt it near the roof area or door area. From there he fiddled back there and said there was a piece loose on the sec row. We took another drive and it seemed to be gone. Even now, i dont rele hear it everday, but when it does it bugs the shit outta me and it doesnt help that i have a make an appt to a dealer days or wks out thats 45 min away not knowing if tge sound is magically gonna show or not that day

It could also be temperature related. On cold days sometimes stuff will creak or rattle differently than warmer days.
