So when i first got the truck, the cruise didnt work. All of a sudden it starts working after a few weeks, and it worked for a while no problems. Then we get a little rain out here, and the cruise stops, along with the radio not working when you shift from park. After a few days the radio starts acting normal again, but still no cruise. I knew the windshield was leaking b/c water was running down the passenger A-pillar. Got that re-sealed and today I pulled the GEM and it looked dry, but stuck it in the oven anyways. The area where I pulled the GEM looked nice and dry, no evidence of water ever being in there. Put everything back together and still no cruise. My truck does have the updated master cylinder switch. The first time I took it out i hit the cruise button, the green cruise light lit up on the dash for about a second then went out again. Thats it. Im stumped. I'd appreciate any insight on this issue. I also have a wet spot under the floor mat on the driver and passenger foot wells, but i cant figure out where its coming from.....I dont see a water trail from higher areas.....

I like this truck a lot and once i get these 2 issues fixed it will be awsome!

there is a bad sensor that hooks up to the master cylinder that detects when you apply the brakes. Its only like $15 and is super easy to change. Its called like the cruise control sensor or something like that.

I put the fuse box and GEM in the oven b/c i didnt have the star bit to separate them. The switch on the master cylinder is the updated one, and i put a jumper wire in it earlier to test it, same problem.

This list helps. I will check these items. Also, can someone tell me where the speed control servo is? The cruise light flickers only after power has been reset, afterwards, it will not do anything at all......it leads me to believe its a faulty GEM only because the radio was acting weird after it rained. Was there a time frame where there where these trucks came with faulty GEMs regardless of the leaky windshield? I think i read some where that new GEMs have been updated in quality, but im not sure.

disregard first set of prints as there are a few differences between the 2000 and 2001 Attached are the correct prints for a 2000 model

Check to see if your horn is working. If not, it's the fuse (engine compartment location). They are tied together. Good luck!

Yep the horn works fine. I will have to pop the fuse panel open under the hood and just double check everything. Once i check some of the things on that list, i will report back. Thanks

start with the easier things to check first but its always best to start from the beginning of a circuit and work towards the end

The BPP switch is mounted at the top of the brake correct with a brown connector? I looked at it today and it looked fine, i unplugged it and my tail lights wouldnt work anymore, plugged it back in and the tail lights work. Seems fine to me?
Also i checked the fuses in the panel under the hood and they were all fine. I played around with the master cylinder wire again to see if it had an inline fuse, and mine does not. I tried using a jumper wire to no avail. So I reconnected the wire harness. I honestly don't think its the actual switches on the steering wheel??

The BPP switch has two circuits one is for the brake lights and the other involves the speed circuit you need to use either a test light or meter to check out the BPP switch from what you stated the brake light circuit is working now you need to test the other circuit.
Also check fuse #5 in the fuse box under the dash (central Junction Box)

****FIXED****

So I was tinkering around under the hood again, and I was once again, messing with the wire off the master cylinder. I know you guys had mentioned something about the servo, but i wasnt sure what it looked like. While I was messing with the wire on the master cylinder, my sleeve caught the harness and pulled it off of the box in front of the fuse box, which i know now is the servo b/c it has two cables going to the throttle. It came off fairly easy, and for some reason it does not have a tight fit. I pushed it back into place and made sure it was fully seated, and I tried the cruise afterwards and it worked. So i had a loose connection on the servo. I guess I wil have to zip tie it to make sure it does not wiggle its way back loose. Thanks for all of the help and hopefully this will help someone who has similar cruise problems.

take the connector and push it back in place then put some RTV silicon around the connector and let it cure That should hold it in place and also would be easy to remove if you need to

Awesome! Nice fix, Rob. Sometimes these things take a few times of poking around to solve. Good learning for all of us!
