I recently purchased a used 2005 Expedition locally and wanted to know how to deactivate the keypad remote locks. I called the dealership and was told that I couldn't change the permanent code set by the factory, thus if someone knows the code, they'll always have access to the vehicle. Is this true? I know you can add a personal code, but it doesn't override the factory code.

Therefore, is there a way to disable the keypad so it can't be used any longer?

Thanks for all your help!!!

I was told the same, factory code stays and only new ones can be added.

not really a big deal - they would have to climb up under your dash on the passenger side to see the code and then use it.

it would have to be somebody with access to your car.

I removed the tag on mine and put it in a safe place so that they
guys at the local garage that work on my vehicle or the car wash
guys that detail it cannot just lean in and get the code for later use.

programing my own code was a cinch. If you wanted to you
could just remove the door panel and then disconnect the keypad
from the wiring harness I imagine...just an idea

Yes, you'd have to take apart the interior door panel just to get to the wiring harness for the keypad, but that would be the way to disconnect it.
