Can someone please explain to me why a task as simple as disconnecting a heater hose has to be the worst experience of my life? What is wrong with these Ford engineers? Are they literally sadists? Or just retarded? Are the new Fords this ridiculous too? If they are, I'm going foreign, I don't care. I bought the special tools and everything, but since I can't fit my hands in there and I can't see anything because it's so buried, I have no idea how to disconnect those hoses. Can anyone help me? I need to do this tonight, and it's already midnight. I have spent an hour already and I'm no closer than when I started, just all scraped up and tired. There is no other car manufacturer on Earth (other than Chrysler, and look where they are) who connects hoses in this fashion. Why, why? Worst ever.

they are fun! I know this post is old but with the right tool- long handle u shaped groove at rt angle they will come off. take the tool reach back and slide end over groove in hose connector- then push toward the heater core[ usually hear a snaping sound] hold against it and pull hose away. it is not easy but will come off. as a note usually the little o-rings and spacer fall off. they make a rebuild kit with these and the plastic clip included. they just snap back on.
