I've noticed that the passenger side carpet is losing its "fuzziness" and is almost down to the backing at the RR door and at a small spot beside the passenger seat. It almost seems as if something dissolved the fuzzy part of the carpet. I purchased my 07 used in 2009 with 45000 miles so there's some unknown history there but unless the PO was really rough with the interior, it seems that the carpet should be in a bit better shape. My Gen I Expy had 100000 miles and the carpet was in much better shape. Has anyone else had had issues with the carpet ravelling or pilling apart in Gen III? The carpet is similar in our 06 Mustang and doesn't appear to be the best quality so I'm betting that's a contributor to the wear.

Now I have some really nice Lloyd mats in there covering up the spots in the back but I am thinking that I may need a new interior carpeting job in the future.

Gary, sounds like the PO didn't take too much care of the carpet. It shouldn't be wearing out like that this soon. The locations sound odd too as most wear and tear happens on the drivers side. I've seen where some people just don't care and never even vacuum the interior. To me my vehicles are probably the second most expensive thing I own ( next to the house ) so I don't beat on them and I like to keep them clean and well maintained, but to each his own.....

By the way the factory carpet lists for about $400-600 so start saving your pennies.

Matt -
That's what I thought too. I bought it at a FoMoCo dealer as a "certified" vehicle 2 years old in 2009....Its had a much better life in my hands with regular cleaning, waxing, etc...! (Still can't get those waterspots out of the black paint though... D: )

Thankfully, the REALLY expensive stuff (powertrain) has been rock solid for 80k.

Gary I learned to put little faith in "Certified" preowned. I purchased mine as a certified preowned from the Ford dealer where the vehicle was originally purchased and serviced. While it was a real clean vehicle there was a few things that should have been taken care of prior to being put out on the lot. Fog lights cracked, one with about an inch of water in it, they had to order the headphones and remote for the RSE, couldnt find the second remote, and screwed up the Sirrius radio activation twice. The TSB for the transmission should have been done already. There were a couple of scratches and chips that could have been easliy taken care of. It was mostly little things like that, but it did come with the Ford certified preowned powertrain warranty to 100K so I guess its worth it. Also I would have fired the guy that detailed it. Crap job on the interior, basically sprayed everything with high gloss armor-all, left spots of dried wax on exterior. I have since been back to that dealer checking out other vehicles and it still surprises me what gets passed off as "Ultra Clean and Certified"

I bought mine in 09 and the price was right with all of the goodies. What's the TSB for the trans? I haven't had any issues but it might be something for me to be aware of.

Gary there were two TSB's I had them do.

TSB 08-22-7 - had to do with down shift bump and hesitation, basically they reflash the computer, about 1hr of time. Cost = $92.50

TSB 09-6-1 - squawking noise with forced downshift. Replace the overdrive friction plates. This involves 11-12 hrs of labor time. Luckily the friction plates were covered under warranty otherwise I would be looking at $1200+.
