Does the oil dipstick go to the bottom?

I got an oil change 3000 miles ago I checked it the day after and it says min. I checked it again yesterday and it doesnt even register. Ive heard from somewhere that the dipstick doesnt go to the bottom of the pan. 97 5.4 xlt

No The dipstick does not go to the bottom.

When you had the oil changed was the filter also changed?? and if so how many qts. of oil was put back in??

After you checked the oil and got a reading of MIN. did you add any oil to get it to the full mark??

When you checked it yesterday and got no reading did you add any oil to get t back to the FULL mark??

You might have an oil leak or your engine has worn valve stem oil seals or worn piston oil control rings. No the dipstick does not touch bottom.

Please search this site. There is a comment from a Tech guy that said that he saw the FoMoCo bulletin that came out in 2000 that stated that the 5.4L engine will use 1 quart of oil every 900 miles. Ford does not either know why, or will not explain. I almost ruined mine engine because of this.

Who would have thought on an engine you would use oil? (Tongue in cheek)

Well, at least to this amount in this short amount of mileage?
