I'm about to order a CAI too, going with dry S&B Filters Cold Air Intake Kit (Dry Disposable Filter) 75-5130D
Let me know what you think of it. Only benefit tht one has over the k&n is it’s a closed filter housing

We had a couple guys collaborate on CAI's on the supercharged SLK's and one of the guys owned his own dyno, yeah, it must be nice! Anyway, 2-3 initial HP was the average, one guy got 4.....till they had all run for 20 minutes. After that, no appreciable gains at all because the other components (supercharger or in our cases it would be turbos, intercooler, engine block all become heat soaked and nullify any increases.

"Overclocking" my supercharger netted 25-27bhp for $800 bucks. Best bang for your buck will be raising boost!

I may well be wrong(happens often) but I "think" the turbos can push 26PPSI w/o issue. Hopefully, someone smarter than I will chime in...........

16plat---do you recall what the stock boost limit is?

I do know that some aftermarket guys said they ran into issues with the head bolts and crank inserts above 420HP in the 15-17 ecoboost.

Stock is 13psi.

The MAP sensor on the top of the manifold is 2.5 BAR OEM. This equivalates to reading up to ~23 psi of boost. The 3 BAR MAP, which requires a tune and specific PCM calibration, will read up to ~28-30 psi for heavily modified trucks.

Those guys must’ve either really been dogging the crap out of their trucks or they were heavily, heavily modified with stock internals

Did Mr. Sticker read my prose written many years ago on "The Care and Use of Wesson Oil"?

I would think that at 10PSI over stock 16PLati, your truck is running rather briskly! SWEET!

I think that on the failures, they were heavily modified engines with very high cylinder pressures that caused the issues. Sometimes engine builders seem to forget about basic BMEP's when they are spec'ing 2500 dollar HO fuel pumps, overboosting combined with higher compression pistons.

Thanks,

jeff

They get so caught up in adding all this HP and TQ and they forget to change the small things that bring it all together

Part finally arrived as S&B had to startup another production run for this product :
dry S&B Filters Cold Air Intake Kit (Dry Disposable Filter) 75-5130D
Quality of the parts are pretty good (could use a different style clamp for the large oval filter connection though). Install is simple; they have good instructions here . I only drove the truck this morning, not too far so no real data yet. 20190424_182448.jpg
