i have a 2006 limited with a rear entertainment system. it has always worked perfectly until today. i was pressing the reverse arrow on the dash control panel and all of a sudden the screen read "DVD/CD DISAB". i tried everything i could think of to get it working again, to no avail. turned off the power, ejected the dvd, turned off the vehicle. has this happened to anyone else? i couldn't find any reference in the owner's manual to this particular error. any suggestions about how to fix this?

Haven't heard of this before. You might try disconnecting the neg cable from the batery for 30 seconds to try and hardboot the unit. You will lose all programmed stations and seat memory too, but worth a shot.
You might want to look at the owner's manual too. I know there is a way to prevent the kids from accessing some of the controls by locking them out with the headunit butttons, but not sure if there is a way to disable the unit all together.

I have the same year, I have had the same problem. I had to turn the dvd off and leave it off for a little while. Then after I restarted the truck it started working again. Never had it happen again.
