i know they work great but dont put them in. these engines are very specific on what plugs they want. get motorcraft plugs. they work for what these engines need/want. if you get the E3s youll throw the plug/s and have to get the threads fixed and itll cost you more of a head ache then anything.

just something these engines like to do. i think its the 2 piece plugs that ford uses and it throws them out. idk why but its something they do. other people should have chimed in. i know they know more.

it all depends on what year truck you have...97-2003.5/4 has to do with how the seat is machined on the plug and age of the plugs currently in the head, they like to throw them cause most aftermarket plugs will not properly torque to the head....now if you have a 05+ with a 3valve motor they have two piece plugs, they usually dont care but removing the originals can and will be a pain in the a$$ if they have been in longer than 90,000 miles

I know they popped plugs in the 5.4L heads. That was due to the threads on the head. Only 3 or 4 threads. I have even seen the v10's knock a few out. But it is rare to see anymore.

I personally popped run on mine, blew out the #8 cylinder. It was 700 at the dealer to fix, they put it a helicoil to fix it. If it blows out the plug and can't be fixed, your looking at a new head. I don't think its worth the minimal if any gains you will see. I won't use anything other than the motorcraft plugs after my fiasco. Of course it won't blow a plug when its sitting in the driveway, it will do it when you are the farthest away from somewhere convenient and you have someplace to be.

I put E3's in my 97 5.4L about 1k miles ago with no problem so far. If I had a choice I would do it again. The motorcrafts were just about the same price and I figured I would give them a try.

I have them in mine. They were a waste of money in my opinion. Didn't gain anything noticeable. I'll be putting the motorcraft back in on the next go around, especially after reading about them lunching the cylinder heads.

The pre-2005 two V-engine has a short amount of threads that's why they blow out everything. 05 up this plug should actually be better because if you look at the bottom it's not two pieces.... one piece therefore you have less of a chance of it breaking off and sticking like the stock plug models have a problem with.
