I have it on my '98. I put it in when I got it in 1999. The harness is already in the truck if you have the tow package. There is a small kit that came with the truck in a plastic bag and it was in the jack compartment. It had the instructions and a relay that had to be plugged into the engine compartment fuse box.

This is the original kit, it had the instructions, harness to connect to the lead under the dash and then wire to your controller, and two different relays. One for the trailer brakes that I used and the other smaller relay was for 12v charging of batteries on the trailer.

This is what the harness for connecting to your controller looked like.

I have it on my 1997 and it came minus the trailer tow package. Relay was plugged in, the harness was under the dash and I had to add the seven pin connector. But my connector to plug into the harness at the back of the truck was different. So I directly wired it in and heat shrunk the connections. You just follow the wire colors and its VERY simple.
