Hello,

I am having many problems with my expedition and cant really seem to figure out the problem. First off, i have a 2001 expy XLT, 4X4, 5.4 liter. It is lifted 2 inches all around with monroe shocks, bigger wheels and tires. It has heated tow mirrors, evolution tuner, aftermarket headlights, flowmaster super 10 duals, double din stereo, 2 12 inch sub, led color changing lights on the floors, two light bars, reverse light bar.

NOW THE PROBLEMS:

Turn signals blink super fast (but when a trailer is hooked up they blink normally/ hazzards blink normally)

Low washer fluid light stuck on

HVAC system stays on when car is off

Batter gets drained extremely fast (i unhook the negative anytime im not driving, THIS GETS REAL OLD)
Anytime I reconnect the battery or move the power pedals my aftermarket interior lights come on

Rear wiper doesnt work

Washer fluid doesnt spray anymore

Car beeps all the time when i am driving

I can see the headlights dim when i am putting a window down, putting all 4 down at once really dims them

Now i know most people say the windshield leaks which causes corrosion on gem and fuse panel so i looked and saw no corrosion or water. However I REPLACED GEM AND FUSE PANEL hoping this would solve my problems but all of my problems still happen. I have not checked the fuses under the hood yet.

Please help as this is really my last resort before i go spend thousands at a shop to get this fixed.

Welcome to the site.

You will need the wiring diagrams and a digital multimeter to tackle the issues the Expy has. You can get the diagrams from a few members on the forum. Do you have a basic understanding of dc electrical?

If you don't have a meter there are cheapies all the way up to drastic overkill for what you need. To be safe around high voltages meters are usually just under $100 and go up. I recommend the Fluke brand to my electrical students.

Are your turn signal bulbs incandescent or led?

Washer tank full or empty with the light on?

See electrical section for the sticky on battery drain.

Post pics of the battery cable connections to the battery posts so we can see the amount of corrosion present. (don't clean them prior)

I do have knowledge of DC circuits and i have many multi meters. Turn signals are incandescent. Washer tank is full with light still on. Battery terminals have already been cleaned many times with those wire brushes meant for terminals and special cleaner for terminals.

Turn signals - make sure all bulbs are working and not burned out. The hyper flash is from lower resistance usually.

Washer tank float - may be stuck or broke, should be simple variable resistance float switch.

Check charging voltage with high beams on and blower fans on high. Object is to load the electrical system and get the vr to max out the alternator. Engine rpms should be at least 1500.

Parasitic drain - battery charged to 100%, alternator output cable disconnected and tied off to prevent shorting, rear wiper disconnected, all doors closed, all electrical off. Normal current drain is around 250—350ma. If you are within range reconnect rear wiper and test, same with alternator.

Signals are all working and not burnt. Where is the tank float? I will check the voltage and look for parasitic drain when i get home tomorrow. Thanks
