Engine Is Sputtering

What causes engine sputter? I know that an engine running out of gas will definitely sputter but if the gas gauge indicates full, what could be the problem? does it require immediate attention?

Could be many things. Maybe spark plugs. How many miles? Can you read codes using torque? It would let you see octane adjustment and other useful info.

Many things could be root cause but on the fuel topic, when was fuel filter last changed?
