Engine shuts off

2000 Expedition has been running normally then it started shutting off when starting to accelerate. Sometimes it will crank on its own, sometimes needing a jump (even though overhead light and door chime still working). Is this a "motherboard" issue or the anti-theft kicking in because the mechanic key was used for more than 5 miles?

Have your battery and connections checked.

They were checked each time it was jumped off. Might need a small cleaning but firmly attached
