Hi everyone, new poster here.

I purchased my 2012 Expedition EL Limited in June with 17K miles and it has been a great vehicle the last few months. Beginning yesterday I noticed it was idling a little rough and sometimes you I would a little loss of power when accelerating. I've driven it a couple of times today and it has gotten progressively worse. I used to have an early-2000's VW that had some issues with misfiring and it sort of feels like that. I've been thinking with only 20K miles now surely it doesn't already have a misfire problem but perhaps I'm wrong. Any ideas?

Also, just last week I had the oil changed at a Ford dealership - think that could play any role in the problem?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

for some reason the Fords take a long time of missing for the check engine light to come on. is it still under warranty take it to the dealer or if you have a good shop that has a good scan tool that records the vehicle when driving should pick it up. I am guessing a defective coil pack.

Hi Hoosier,

Welcome to the board! I'm Todd, the Ford rep. around these parts. Have you made an appointment with your dealer? I'd like to loop in your regional customer service manager to work with you on a resolution. Please send me a PM with your full name, best daytime phone number, VIN, and servicing dealership; I'll get the ball rolling.

Could just be a coil going bad. Maybe the wiring somehow got messed up. There was a thread awhile back where one of the A/C lines going thru the firewall was pinching and shorting out the wiring of one of the coils.

I took it to the dealership last week and they were able to diagnose the misfire even though the CEL never came on. Misfire on 3 so they replaced the spark plug and coil pack - all covered under warranty. Running great now!

Hey Hoosier,

Glad to hear that everything is back on track. You know where to find me if you need me.
