I did a quick search and didn't see this question amongst the 5th Gen forum.

Has anyone run into issues with the EVAP system related to them topping up their fuel after the nozzle clicks off when filling?
I ask as I am a 'top up' person to the extreme of things. When the nozzle clicks off, I am historically the person at the pump slowly adding as much more fuel as I can.
As a practice, I know this not to be ideal, however, to date I have not had any EVAP issues with any of the vehicles our family have owned.

Appreciate anyones feedback or experiences.

Many vehicle owner’s manuals caution against topping off the fuel once the fuel nozzle shuts off.

Topping off the fuel can damage the emissions’ system components.

Since you posted about topping off the fuel - why do you do this? What do you hope to accomplish?

I simply like to stop for gas a little as possible, so I try to get as much gas in as I can each time I fill up.

If 5th gen owners are experiencing any issues with this, I won't do it.

26 gallon fuel tank on my Expedition. How many more miles does a pint (maybe a cup?) of gasoline provide after the pump clicks? :) Not saying I don't do this...

Also fuel refills are essentially a random event even if you always refill at, say, 1/4 fill level. Record your mileage between fills and this will become apparent.

When our old Honda Pilot clicked off, I could consistently get an extra 1.5 to 2.5 gallons in it. That’s a lot more driving before the next stop!

Like I said before, if there are noted issues no, I’ll pass on topping up the Expedition when it arrives.

The manual with my 2014 EL XLT actually says when the nozzle clicks off, start it one more time (slowly) until it clicks off a second time. I have been doing this for over 100K miles without any issues.

Mine has the following warnings that few of us follow :)
Stop refueling when the fuel pump
nozzle automatically shuts off for the
first time. Failure to follow this will
fill the expansion space in the fuel tank and
could lead to fuel overflowing.
and a page or so later
Allow no more than one automatic
shut-off when refueling.

I will tell you that for me, 90% of the time if I "top it off" I will get back fires. And man it's loud when it happens. I quickly learned on these not to top it off. when it clicks, i'm done.

Idk about the the 25s, but all the tubes and lines for the fuel system do give it a tad extra capacity lol
