Hello there,

I just bought my Expedition 2012 XLT around 2 months ago, and it really bothers me that it came without GPS\touch screen radio console so i checked ebay and i found a good deal on OEM GPS radio (only the radio console with no wire or anything) and i got it, i though that it would be as easy as plug and play, BUT i found out that its not as easy as i thought!!! all the wires and cables are different!!!!!!!!! this is really killing me

anyone can advice me for a solution like a cables converter i can find online or something. Note that i have Microsoft Sync

and many many thanks in advance for anyone who helps

Your not going to like this, but the best thing to do is sell the radio you just bought and go completely aftermarket. It will be easier faster and probably cheaper plus will work better.

What sgtowing said. The factory NAV also requires an amp that I don't believe you obtained based on what you said. I believe Kenwood has a SYNC interface module and Pioneer is coming out with one. Both will allow you to continue using your steering wheel controls.

The other thing to consider is map update costs. The factory NAV is $200 per and they are infrequent with old data when they are released (as in over a year to two+ years). Rape isn't a strong enough term for what they do in that regard. After market systems can have lifetime map updates for close to nothing.

do an extensive search on here...someone did do this swap...a couple I believe but this was maybe a couple years ago...they found out if theyre truck was equipped/setup for gps 1st...then bought the gps version...they also sent it off to have software installed too...without the update it wouldn't work...I cant recall anything about harnesses...but this is all I can recall at the moment...but it definitely wasn't a clean swap

thanks for everyone replied,
i cannot believe how complicated the process is and how many parts are required, its like ford intended to make it too hard to do, and this brick upgrade kit cost 400$!!!!
