When I look at the pix and videos online they all refer to 10mm bolts. When I look behind mine, I see what look like rubber grommets with some sort of star screw inside. The screw/bolt looks like a clover leaf: 6 lobes, and they look rounded.

I can try to take pix if it will help, but I'm hoping for a quick answer ...

10mm may be the actual thread size. The heads on mine is as you describe. Takes a star driver or torx bit. Can't remember the size off hand.

Edit: Brief search online says T-45. Would confirm but its raining....

I'll try the star driver. Thx!

The t-45 worked. It was a little loose and I was worried about stripping the head of the bolt, but the t-50 was too big, so I was careful and the bolts are now out.

Next question. The clips that hold in the calipers don't look like any on the online examples. Also, should I worry about the scoring on the discs or will they smooth out over time?

If the following don't display let me know. Thx in advance!

I can't see the photos.

I generally just replace pads unless I have some indication of warped, out of round, damaged, etc... rotors.

You could have the rotors checked and turned or replaced if necessary.

Still no pics. Unless something has changed since the 97 model year, the calipers should not have clips? It should slide off the rotor. Might need to pry a flat head screwdriver between the rotor and old pad to compress the piston.

I agree with tom that unless the rotors are clearly warped, I would leave them. When I replaced my rotors, I had to replace both wheel hubs due to the fact that the rotors were completely rust welded to them. Keep that in mind. If they are original to the truck that will most likely be your situation as well.

I think the pix have loaded now ...
