"1st gens came with skid plates."

My 2002 doesn't have skid plates. I bought it used in 2005 but I doubt they were removed, but it's possible I guess.

Really? It doesn’t have one under the transfercase? Another under the gas tank? One in front of the front cross member?

What trim level is yours? 4wd or 2wd?

Mine was a 4wd Eddie Bauer.

Nothing too rough and without any mods. I’m off highway a lot in Nevada to boondock. Just careful to put my tires where I won’t high center. I should probably look at a skid plate . Thanks for the encouragement.

I've always been a Ford guy and wanted a 8-seater that is a spacious tourer and capable off-roader. So after Ford released the Safari Edition here in the UAE, I just had to have one. I've had a 3/2 Ready Lift Kit on mine with 34inch Mastercraft tires and 1inch Bora spacers...to my 2015 and she is such a joy to drive. Love to see the faces of the chaps when i take her into the desert...dune bashing!

I take my 2007 to the dunes a couple times a year, all I've done is some Hankook tires and a flag mount, everything else is stock. I use a sprinkler to clean the underside when I get back home. She's been good, no dune buggy, but I have no worries about getting stuck while out there.

FYI, a futon mattress fit perfectly in the back of my 1st gen, it would fold up when I put the rear seats back up, which was convenient.

If you lift it, you will screw up the RSC computer. It wasn't designed for that. Just get oversized tires, but that will also reduce the highway stability.

Solo camping with a twin blow up mattress. Just don't get a super thick one.

Main reason there is very very little aftermarket support.

For what you want to do it will be just fine.
A set of ICONs, RCI Skidplates, and at least 33s they are plenty capable.

I have Fox 2.0s, BDS UCAs, upfront and Bilstein 4600s on a 2” spacer out back (will be replaced with ICONs eventually), RCI skid plates, and 33.5” tires.

She gets along just fine on the types of terrain you mentioned.

Officially, yes... less officially, most F150 **** bolts right up in the front as long as you match years (2nd and 3rd gen are mostly 2004-2008 F150 tech iirc?)

2nd and 3rd gen also need lifts and might need a more appropriate bumper... or a bumper guard and a skirt trim

Love the color. My old yukon was that color with similar wheel setup. Curious...doesnt sleeping in it with windows up (I assume) get stuffy or no?

I usually crack the windows AND I have also used a Goal Zero pack to run a fan. That was the most comfortable sleep I've had in a while.

Where I am even a cracked window would lead to [emoji3082] overtaking the car lol

That’s so cool. I’ve always wanted to do that. Are your back windows tinted more than factory?

Lol. Nice try.

Why won’t you answer?

Maybe you could tell us more about how the seats in the navigator are terrible, the leather falls apart within two years and the rear seats have absolutely no leg support...based off of you sitting in a ‘friends’ one time LOL
