Please explain this new lifted soccer mom tahoe/ Yukon trend?! It' horrific.

Do not understand the question. Trend for me is not new, got my first Suburban in 1994, have had one in one form or another till I got my Expy max in March. For a family of Four and two dogs we could take extensive road trips with all luggage inside with no roof carrier etc. For mountain biking I throw my bike in the back, no racks to deal with. For Motocross I put my 250-300 lb bikes on a hitch mounted carrier. If buddies come, I hook up a multi bike trailer. Great for home projects the full size (long) SUV's are the swiss army knives of vehicle.

Also, have been rear ended and t-boned in various versions of my GM Trucks. These Body on Frame Trucks protect the family quite well. For a few MPG, over a car based SUV, worth every penny

My favorite looking Expy is the current 4th gen (2018+), by FAR. I didn’t even pay attention to the older ones. I liked Tahoe’s and Suburbans, but didn’t care for the older Expy’s as far as looks go. This Expy changed all that for me, and I think many others as well. I love the looks!

I still like the GM trucks as well and to be honest think the Denali looks even better than an Expy. BUT, looks aren’t everything, and everything else inside and out other than looks is better with the current generation Expy. The technology, the features, everything.

Ford definitely has a winner!

I guess everyone has their own tastes. I like the truck look. Ford designers based the front fascia on gen 2&3 Expys after the F-150. For the 4th gen designers said for the 1st time they based the expy fascia on the explorer instead of F-150......so it looks more like a crossover. I think that where Ford went wrong. I’m not a huge fan overall of the 4th gen look but some have sharp looking trucks in this section. In certain colors it looks great. I love the new Navigator though, looks better than ever. The Navigator retained a truck look with the huge bold grille, big headlights, and flat nose and it’s a winner in my book.

Idk about that. The 1st gen expy was the only version whose looks were based off the f150. The sec gen expy came out before the x Gen(04) f150 and they looked nothing alike inside or out. The 2nd gen looked like a truckier bolder version on the 3rd gen explorer. Same thing with following gen. With those trucks, both the explorer and expy took design elements from the 04 gen f150, but none truly looked like the f150. The 4th gen actually took more design elements from the f150 than the 2nd and 3rd gen did, though it still has the explorer design cues as well. In other words, the 4th gen is a 50/50 product of explorer n f150, the 3rd gen(pre refresh) is 70/30 of explorer n f150 and 2nd gen is more 90/10 of expl n f150. I think thats y i like the 2nd n 4th gen most, the 2nd gen was the most original design and it was better for it, while the 4th gen is a nice homage to its heritage while making it modern.

Ford designers don’t put it that way. The 3rd gen has a Super Duty (F-250+) based interior, no relation to explorer at all. Super Duty steering wheel, seats, dash design. Powertrain and Drivetrain were 100% F-150. 3rd gen powerdome hood and 4 bar grille were cues taken from F-150/SD. Headlights are basically an F-150 housing with the bottom swoosh. 4th gen designers said for the first time is based off explorer. It’s incorrect to say they took more cues from the trucks than previous, they said they were trying to separate the expy from the trucks. When 2nd gen and 3rd were released designers harped it was based off F-150, even though 2nd gen was released first same basic fascia. They are all based off the truck one way or another. I def like 4th gen looks more than 1st gen.

Parts wise, the expy always borrowed from the pick up truck bin, but design wise, seemed closer to explorer than pick up.

It never made since to me that ford would say "we based the expy on (...) Pick up" when they expy always were changed, one, before the pick ups major refresh or recycle, and two, right before the f150 introduced all new ford tech.
