Is that a factory sub and amp setup? I'm thinking about trying to mount an aftermarket sub in that same location but I'm a little hesitant to lose that handy cubbyhole...

yeah, factory setup. what cubbyhole you talkin about? mine sits behind the interior pieces. you could probably mount one there. also, you can buy a custom sub box to fit where your factory one is. it only fits on sub though so if you want to go "boom" you will have to go with a different setup.

i dont have that cubby, i have the mach system so that is where my sub sits. the amp sits right there behind the interior piece. sure would be handy though!

wow..you spent a ton of time sanding...i use to spray permatech bedliners and all we ever had to do was scratch it up good w/80grit wipe it down w/alcohol tape it up and shoot it...if its too smooth it will peel up so 80 grit is a must...just a lil FYI

yeah i used 80 and 60 grit. the crevices are just roughed up cuz i couldnt get in there all the way. the only reason i spent that much time sanding was cuz it was raining all day and had nothing else to do. didnt really want to paint with that much humidity in the air. called for some prices on spray in liners. gonna be more than i want to spend. so gonna either do roll-on kit or use duplicolor spray. probably gonna go with herculiner. we will see this weekend.

Your rig looks awesome....is the liner also going cut down on the amount of road noise going into the cabin?

well, got the floor herculined today and the interior pieces reinstalled. looks pretty good imo. put 2 coats of the herculiner on, will probably do one more since i still have half a gallon! cut down on the road noise a little, not as quite as when i had the carpet in there but it isnt too bad now. i will post up pics tomorrow when its light outside. already started working my way to the front for the interior pieces. took the woodgrain pieces off and will probably start tearing most of the dash apart this week. probably do the big pieces next weekend. will keep you posted.

Looks good. But why did you rip out the carpet? Did you just want a more rugged cargo liner?

ripped the carpet out cuz when i go offroading, things tend to get muddy back there. also when im back home on leave, often find myself using the expy as more of a truck. this way when im done, i just grab the hose, spray it out, and pull the drain plugs. easy day.

its so much easier. had to pull a guy out today out of my "parking area" cuz it was all mud. he decided to bring his 2wd toyota to park with the big boys and got stuck. so i had to pull him out. the straps were all muddy and i just threw them in the back. got home, rinsed it out with the hose, pulled the plugs and voila....clean! i highly suggest it. and it only took half a gallon so you still have the other half left for touchups. it took about a full day to roll it on, mostly waiting for the dry time. but if you have a high velocity fan (walmart will do) it cuts down on the waiting time for the next coat. the herculiner kit was $90, comes with a gallon, 2 rollers, and a brush.

It's cool to actually see someone do this.
I have often thought about how nice it would be to do the entire floor of the truck like that (especially when i think of all the mud and snow that gets tracked into my truck). Have you considered doing the rest of the floor?
I don't really have a need for it (but it would be convenient and look pretty awesome) and I certainly don't have the guts to actually go through with it.
If you do the rest of the truck be sure to take lots more pictures of the process and the final outcome.
And great job on the cargo area, too.

doing the rest of the floor is def on my mind. im torn between getting black carpet with the heavy duty floormats or just herculining the whole damn thing. i know there is a little more road noise without the carpet, i just dont want it to fill the entire truck. so it is def something i am weighin the pros and cons. have to decide soon cuz might as well do it while i have the dash all torn apart for painting.
