Exterior trim piece, removal

Hey guys,
How do you remove the trim piece above the rear hatch's door handle? I was thinking of repainting it.

If it's like the 2nd gens, you have to remove the inner hatch panel to get to the screws holding it on.

Stoned06, that was my thoughts as well.

ptmares, I have the same plan as you only I'm planning on wrapping mine in vinyl. I had thought about using plasti dip just to see if I'd like the look. Haven't had the weather to do anything.

Whatever you do, DO NOT rip the vapor barrier or you will get water leaking into the vehicle. If you slowly/carefully peel it away from the adhesive, it will re-stick to it when you put it back on.
