It seems anytime I park my 18 Expedition outside and cold start it in temps like -15F, then it throws a "drive control malfunction service required" code on the dash. Anyone else have this happen?

It always sits in my heated garage so I rarely start it when its that cold, but I was at work til 3am and it was cold.

Last year it did this and they replaced the right front strut and that supposedly fixed this. The strut was NOT leaking oil, it just was not communicating with the computer, so you couldn't adjust the drive modes because it couldn't adjust the shock valving. Maybe I'll get another new strut! lol.

Just got my '19 Expedition back from the dealer for the same issue. It would happen every time on cold start in the morning when the weather was below say 50 degrees, followed by a "Drive Mode Unavailable" error. It took three separate trips to the dealer, but they finally got it fixed this time. They replaced the LR strut and all seems to be fine.

Perfect, I'm at 36,180 miles! lol. I can now pay the deductible for the extended warranty coverage I guess! oh well, cheap fro a $700 part plus labor and alignment!
