Can people chime in. I’ve got a late 2019 model manufactured around September 2019. 21k miles on it. Usually drive for short distances.

How long did your original battery last?

Recently:
The touch sensors to lock and unlock on the handles other than the driver door isn’t working.

Today the infotainment screen didn’t light up after I parked it, turned off engine for 5 minutes, and turned it back on. The ac still came on but I couldn’t control it

The auto stop button is not lit but I noticed it never stops on its own.

Are these combined a sure sign I need to change the battery.

Depends on where you live but batteries on average last 3-5 years when subjected to heat, starting and charging. Like oil you need to figure out when to change your battery that works for you. New battery testers can determine the life of a battery. Batteries on the shelf will last a very long time if they are charged. I have a battery that is 6 years old a AGM sitting on the shelf and just put it in my van and is pretty much brand new.

I live in AZ so I always change 3-4 years. Not worth being stranded just to eek out a few more months of battery life.

The battery has already been replaced on our 21 which is short tripped quite often. Short trips + ASS (auto start stop) will kill these batteries. You did really good with it lasting as long as it did

I almost always turn off the auto stop. Maybe that explains how it lasted over 3 1/2 tests. I do live in the south where it gets hot and humid.

And I almost never use navigation. CarPlay only on road trips. I recently installed a dashcam.

In my 2019, mine lasted 2 years. Auto Stop/Start quit working, so took it into the dealer and they determined the battery was bad. That seems to be the first sign it's going out. I just never noticed because like you, I turn mine off all the time. I forgot to one day and noticed it never would engage...so yours could have been going bad for some time and you didn't realize it.

2019 limited stealth , All the bells and whistles, literally.

Still have the original battery installed without any issues, yet. Purchased new in 3/2019. I also never use auto stop/start since I bought it used in 9/2022. Not sure if the original owner used the auto stop/start though.

Imma prolly think the battery will need replacing witin a year from now.

Mine went about 2.5 years before it started causing issues with the sensors. The one in my Ram lasted just over 3.

Lots of electronics that are "always on" just eats batteries up in these new vehicles.

Both my Fords disable features, if we do nothing but short trips. The first to go is Auto shutoff, then other features follow to save battery life. I'm not sure what the low reading is. But when we drive across town or longer trips, the features re-enable.

I noticed today ASS isn’t on when I start the car but if I push the button it does come on. I didn’t test it to see if it actually works though.

I plan to keep the car for no more than 2 more years. I guess I will need to replace the battery before then, and one change will be enough.

On ours, regardless of battery charge level, when you push the button, it lights up 'off' and, when driving, the ASS symbol in the instrument cluster displays with a diagonal slash through it

I had hoped to join the forum for fun stuff, but alas. I just bought a 2021 with 40k miles about a month ago. This week, I noticed "deep sleep mode" on the app but no other symptoms. I took it to Auto Zone. They told me the battery tested good but needed a charge. Took it to a local mechanic (at closing time on Friday) who quickly checked and said the alternator seemed to be charging and everything looked okay, but bring it back if something came up. Didn't drive it yesterday and it wouldn't start last night.

I'm a non-car knowledgeable girl but can follow simple instructions. Searching around there seem to be '21 F150s with known drain issues, and a service bulletin, but I'm not finding much on the Expys. Any ideas? Battery still bad on a 2 year old truck despite what Auto Zone says? (July 2021 build date)? Some accessory not turning off (can't see anything)? Some wire or relay not functioning properly?

Recommend getting an appropriate trickle charger, Battery Tender is the one I use. Use that charger, depending on your driving routine, at least once a month. I don't put many miles on mine so I usually charge every two to three weeks. Based on the other feedback from Auto Zone and local mechanic you should be ok if you do that.

So you think nothing is actually wrong? I drive around town daily, short trips, running kids around and to different work locations. Then 30 min drives 2-3 times a week. We jumped it and it ran for 5 min or so this morning around 8:00 then by noon it wouldn't start, but it tried.

And thanks for the welcome! Glad to be here despite kicking at my Expy every time I walk by it today.

Amazing how much the these rolling computers draw battery charge just by sitting.

My 02 Mustang can sit for Weeks and still start up on the first turn no problem. Cars are certainly not as reliable as they used to be and cause 3x more

Are there any settings that would help with battery drain? Seems like you could shorten the interior lights staying on or choose to disable some features or something.
