Factory flipdown LCD

I have a 99 and the screen only comes on when the interior lights are on. Normal?

I dont think they had factory DVD in them so more than likely aftermarket

Sounds like the "shop" that installed it used the dome light circuit for power. Not going to work for long like that. I would find a reputable shop and have them take a look at it, and if possible fix it.
