Factory gas tank protection

Does anyone know if any models came with a skid plate for the gas tank?
I was at the junkyard getting some mirrors for my expy and looked under a few different trucks, most were like mine with a few straps but 1 had a full length skid plate but it was dented up too much to save.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks

I'm not sure if u could really call it a skid plate. But mine had a large plate under the tank which is bolted to the straps and bottom of tank. I suppose it does have decent
protection over the plastic tank. But I certainly wouldn't go planting it on any rocks or stumps.

Look for a junked SSV police model. They all had the plates. Same for the 3rd Generation trucks, though those are plastic and are available from Ford for about $200

My 2000 Eddie Bauer has the gas tank skid plate.

Thanks for the info, I'll get back to the yard and see what I can find, anything is better than what I have .
The ground clearance is pretty good now so anything solid should be good.

It's decently thick. Will certainly add protection if u don't have one at all. Mine seems to be part of the straps so u might have to replace those as well. Mine is a 01 xlt 4x4
