When a turn signal bulb burns out, the remaining signal and the indicators on the dash change from about a one second blink rate to about twice as fast, two per second.
Mine started doing that today. BOTH SIDES! But when I check the lights, all the bulbs are working.
When I turn on the 4 way flashers, they all blink at the standard rate, about once per second.
Any idea what's going on, and how to change it back?

Do you have any LED bulbs installed?

If not, I’d remove the existing bulbs and check the sockets for corrosion or damage.

If I were here, you would know it !

^^THIS^^

Since your rear LED's are not causing the hyperflash, it is a warning that you have some kind of fault (or short) somewhere in the wiring for the other lights...

Note that even thought the other bulbs light up normally, if they are getting old, they may be causing additional resistance in the circuit, which is triggering the hyper-flash, to let you know something is (or soon will be) wrong....

As for the 4 ways, they should be on a different circuit/fuse/relay, so they should not be affected by this situation....

Well before I got around to removing the rear lights and cleaning them and the sockets, everything started working normally again! Been over a week now, and no further anomalies. So I guess I'll just sit on it for now. Can't find or fix what currently isn't broken!

You may have gotten some moisture in one of the socket connections and it finally dried out. I use semi-conductive grease lightly on the lamp base itself, and a small dab in the socket base, in those spots before reinserting lamps. That keeps any moisture, usually from high humidity where the hot lamps/bases suck it in to the when cooling off after shutdown.

If you have LED bulbs in the rear brake/indicators the car should have been flashing quickly from the start. As it doesn’t that would indicate that you or someone else added resistive loads (when fitting the led bulbs) to prevent the hyper flashing. As it is now hyper flashing, I would be checking the resistive loads (has one gone open circuits? Or the connections between the wiring and the resistive loads.
Does it hyper flashing when you indicate both left and right? Or only in one direction?
