So installed a new transfer case on my expy last night. Everything is all bolted in including both driveshafts. Obviously since the transfer case got replaced tons of fluid came out the slip yoke of the rear driveshaft so I bought 5 gallons of DEX/MERC Ford/GM tranny fluid at AutoZone for my truck. Starting filling it yesterday and when I was no where near what I thought it would take, it started overflowing and stuff....

2 questions:

What can I do about this overflowing tranny fluid? Turn it on and cycle through all gears to get it cycled in more, and then continue to fill it?
and
When putting in the tranny fluid that I think is right, is it also filling the transfer case and tranny, so when I'm done filling the tranny I can be good to go.

Transfer Case Draining and Filling
CAUTION: If the proper fill procedures are not followed, transfer case failure can result.

NOTE: Fluid level must be just below the fill plug.

Remove the fill plug from the rear of the transfer case, and check fluid level.
If the fluid is below the level, fill with Motorcraft MERCON® Automatic Transmission Fluid XT-2-QDX or -DDX or MERCON® equivalent.

Yes I found that it does...at least it should have a drain and fill port in back. I looked at a few pics online but I'm at school right now. Do you think the same DEX /MERC fluid I have will be good in both transfer case and tranny?

And as far as the tranny goes...would it be bad to to run it overflowing to cycle through the gears to get the fluid to settle?
Thanks

I don't think I have Motorcraft Atf but I have this 5 gallon bucket of dex/merc is and it says For Ford and gm....think that stuff will work in tranny and transfer case? Should right?
