I had a very very lucid dream a couple nights ago...

We are all familiar with the hood floppies at speed, with crosswinds, etc...in my dream I realized, and was able to prove through tactile resonance...

The Floppies are caused not by the thin hood, but by a windshield that is almost paper thin...it is the Windshield flopping that we see, not the hood.

Then I woke up!

It was just a dream...but so very real. I knew I had to share it with you all.

LOL. I did notice the dancing hood on my trip back from picking up the vehicle and was immediately concerned that it was not fully latched. After checking it was secure, associated it with the aluminum skin. I'm pretty certain Ford would have seen this during wind tunnel tests... I'd love to have heard the subsequent discussions about it.

I first noticed the floppy hood on my wife's Explorer. We bought it on a Friday and left town that night. I pulled over at the first exit and checked the hood because I was convinced it wasn't fully latched. I called the dealership and they had me bring it in after our trip and said they adjusted hood stops. It did seem to be better on the Explorer after that. Have never had them look at the Expy but it's definitely there - every trip on the highway.

I should have been aware that this dream was a portend...

Yesterday I was tossing baseballs to the dogs. Well, one fateful ball came back all a'slobbery, and I tossed it up the driveway. And, as soon as it left my hand I knew trouble was coming. A slow-motion arc that landed smack-dab in the middle of my hood. *****. Nice little dent!

Anyone have experience popping dents out of the aluminum sheet?
